What is the Sindh Teaching License?
A licence issued by STEDA (Sindh Teacher Education Development Authority) under the Teaching License Policy, Sindh (2023) certifying that a person meets the professional standards to teach. The test is conducted by SIBA Testing Services (STS), Sukkur IBA University.
Who is eligible to apply?
Eligibility (minimum qualification, professional degree such as B.Ed/M.Ed, age and domicile requirements) is set in each STEDA/STS advertisement and can differ for Elementary and Secondary licences. Always read the official advertisement before applying.
What is the difference between the Elementary and Secondary licence?
The Elementary Teaching License covers Grades 1–8 and the Secondary Teaching License covers Grades 6–12. Content-knowledge questions are drawn from the Sindh school curriculum for the relevant grades.
What is the test pattern?
Publicly reported papers have two parts: Part I – Content Knowledge, assessed through MCQs, and Part II – Pedagogical Content Knowledge, assessed through Constructed Response Questions (CRQs). One reported pattern awarded 40 marks to content-knowledge MCQs and 60 marks to pedagogy CRQs. Published model papers have also included a case-study style extended response. Check the latest STS model paper for the current pattern.
What is the passing criteria?
Reported results required candidates to score at least 50% separately in each part (e.g. 20/40 in content knowledge and 30/60 in pedagogical content knowledge). Criteria can change, so confirm in the official notification.
How much is the test fee?
The licence/test fee is determined by STEDA and announced with each test. Pay only through the official channels mentioned in the STS advertisement.
How long is the licence valid?
Validity and renewal terms are defined in the Teaching License Policy, Sindh and its rules. Refer to the policy on the STEDA website for the current validity period and renewal requirements.
Can I re-appear if I fail?
Yes. Under the policy, candidates may re-appear after at least six months or on the next test date announced by STEDA, upon submitting a fresh licence fee.
